Zune Phone...Myth or Soon to be Reality?

For the tech savvy crowd, and Apple lovers especially, last week was an event that had everyone wondering if the Apple tablet or now known iPad was going to come to fruition. Steve Jobs announced it was indeed a reality, and left some people wanting more. To keep up with all the hype, it looks like Microsoft is greasing the rumor mill with talks of a Zune phone that would run on the Window's 7 OS.

Basically Microsoft's answer to the iPhone, Zune which is now an mp3 player, would run off similar software of the player itself. Other capabilities of the rumored phone are, "720P HD video and HDMI, and USB connections." With more smart phones having VoIP apps, and HD VoIP becoming popular, we will have to wait and see if these functions will be available as well. Although already "set up" with HD video, HD VoIP doesn't seem too far fetched.

So when will we know for sure when this phone will or won't be a reality? We will have to wait until, mid Feb. (Feb. 15-18 to be more accurate), which is when the Mobile World Congress will take place. It is at this conference that Microsoft is rumored to unveil the Zune phone. It isn't reported yet what phone systems providers will host the Zune phone.

Will the Zune phone give the iPhone a run for its money? It's hard to tell right now, but it seems people are at least curious about the release. With Window's 7 being the OS for the phone, it could be more appealing to Microsoft die hard fans who have found the OS to be a great improvement over Vista.
