SkypeKit Now Compatible with PC & Mac
Skype had recently announced the release of their SkypeKit, “a new software development kit that enables hardware and software makers to add Skype to their devices and applications.” Originally SkypeKit was only compatible with the Linux Operating system. But last week, Skype announced a newer version that’s compatible with both Windows and Mac systems.
This new version, SkypeKit Beta SDK for Windows (x86) and Mac OS X, will allow multiple desktop applications the ability to incorporate Skype’s VoIP tools without having to separately download Skype software. These capabilities (including video, voice, and text) will offer a lot of benefits for developers, helping them design more innovative and interactive software for chatty consumers. Imagine sharing photos and being able to chat about them over video chat simultaneously with a distant family relative. SkypeKit is part of Skype’s larger effort to streamline the entire online experience with its advanced VoIP technologies.
The need to worry about all different kinds of programming codes for various applications has been eliminated by SkypeKit and will surely be an attractive choice for programmers who are already busy enough. Because it will be compatible over a number of applications, Skype seems to be expanding its potential reach by working dynamically alongside other forms of digital media. In this way, Skype seems to be outshining its other more traditional VoIP providers by becoming a more noticeable and encompassing brand. Will Skype come to be as recognized as Google or Apple? Probably not, but with the release of SkypeKit they’re well on their way.
