iPad Commercial Released During Oscars
For those of you who missed it, last night during the Oscars Apple decided to run their first iPad commercial. Basically just running down the main points we need to know for the iPad which are:
- Launch date is April 3rd
- Pre order available on March 12th
- 3G enabled versions will be out later in April
So what does this release mean for VoIP phone system users? With the wi-fi availability (for now only available for the U.S.) it makes the mobility of VoIP even greater. People who need ot use video conferencing can now use an iPad which has a much bigger screen than a smartphone, but less bulky to carry around than their laptop.
This could also mean businesses who have people working out in the field could be able connected better to the home office. Without having to carry a laptop, but have more screen space than a smartphone, the iPad could open the door for busienss owners to have that much more connection to field workers
Having a larger screen size will allow advertisers to make larger ads and give better quality to their audience. Domenic Venuto, the managing director for media and entertainment at Razorfish has been quoted on his excitement of the larger screen, saying, "We're incredibly excited about the increased surface size we get to play with for a multi-touch device…whether it's an advertising or publishing client we're building new experiences for, this breathes new life into the category."
There is also a looming factor that the iPad may in fact be nothing more than a glorified iPod Touch--not gaining much momentum for the business world. We will all have to wait and see how the iPad will effect the business and IP phone system world but it is keeping many people on their toes.
